Dear St. John Family,
June is one of my favorite months of the year. The weather is beautiful and it allows Donna and me the opportunity to garden, ride our bikes and just enjoy the wonders of God’s creation. The only negative during the month is that our huge cottonwood tree sheds its cotton then. Our backyard looks like a winter wonderland. Our neighbors aren’t too happy about the tree, but haven’t ever said anything. It does remind us of our days in Kansas where there are many cottonwood trees.
There are several important church activities this month. On June 6th we will be honoring our Christian Education Staff and also our graduates from high school and college. On June 20th, we will begin our combined worship service with the members of Our Saviour’s. This is a great opportunity to become better acquainted with their members and worship together.
On Thursday, June 24th, we will be having our summer picnic. Hopefully, this year it will be cooler. We have invited our friends from Our Saviour’s, so it should be a great day of food, fun, and fellowship.
Donna and I will be gone for a few days during the fourth week because we are babysitting for our grandchildren in CT. My son told me our youngest grandchild only stops running for meals and bedtime. I think I will be busy everyday.
Please keep St. John in your thought and prayers during the summer months and continue your faithful giving and attend wherever possible. I am planning special music for the summer Sundays and I know you will enjoy our special musical guests.
God’s best to you,
Pastor Matheny
