Council Highlights for September 2006

Present: Karen Becker, Cherie Bersch, Mary Johnson, Bob Lehmann, Matt Lison, Betty Parker, Mike Szymik, Mary Ann Toth
Absent: Pastor Matheny, Eric Tess

At its monthly meeting held on August 10th, the St. John Church Council:

  • Received a report from the Council Financial Secretary indicating that 54 individuals and/or families responded to our $100 Solution Appeal this summer, raising $6,919.91 to help us through our financial crisis. A heart felt thank-you to all who answered the call for help.
  • Clarified the alcohol policy for use on the church premises (see the October Heartbeat for the revised policy)
  • Approved a request from Youth for Understanding to use the Fellowship Hall on October 1, from 1:30 - 7:00pm
  • Tentatively approved a request from Germantown AA to use the Fellowship Hall for weekly meetings
  • Set November 12 at 6:30pm for the Annual Board of Trustees meeting
  • Set the evening of December 3rd for Christmas Tree trimming and Christmas caroling for shut-ins

Special thank-yous go out this month to the following:

  • Pamela Hansen Ruben and Mary Ann Toth for their continuing commitment to producing a quality Heartbeat every month
  • Caroline Romaine and the members of the Outreach Committee for all of their hard work this past year in organizing a variety of activities for the congregation
  • Mike Szymik for his efforts in getting our St. John website up and running
  • Merry Lison and all of the members of the Craft Fair Committee for making this year's event such a huge success
  • All of the members of St. John who supported the Craft Fair with their time, talents, attendance and donations
