Council Highlights for October 2006

Present: Cherie Bersch, Bob Lehmann, Pastor Matheny, Mike Szymik, Mary Ann Toth
Absent: Karen Becker, Mary Johnson, Matt Lison, Betty Parker, Eric Tess

Because there was not a quorum present for this meeting, final action on all items required follow-up contact with absent member(s) to assure a majority vote.

At its monthly meeting held on October 12th, the St. John Church Council:

  • Modified and approved new forms for member and non-member use of church facilities.
  • Authorized use of the church sanctuary by Mary Knudson for a piano recital on November 26, 2006.
  • Authorized use of the fellowship hall and kitchen by Karen Roskopf for a family event on December 2, 2006.
  • Approved the following schedule for this year’s Christmas services:
    • December 24th - Sunday worship service with choir 9:30 am
    • Christmas Eve service with communion 4:00 pm
    • Christmas Eve service with communion and choir 7:00 pm
    • December 25th - No worship service
  • Set the annual congregational meeting date for January 28, 2007 immediately after the worship service.
  • Authorized use of the church sanctuary for the Krull/Hauglie wedding on March 24, 2007.

  • Amy Witzlib for her outstanding leadership in coordinating our Sunday Morning Fellowship. Please be sure to thank Amy by signing up to serve fellowship in the near future.
  • Cherie Bersch and Pam Frey for volunteering to coordinate this year’s children’s Christmas program.
  • Those members of St. John who have already responded to our 2007 Pledge Drive.
