Council Highlights for November 2007

Present: Cheri Bersch, Mary Johnson, Bob Lehmann, Matt Lison, Jay Schaetzel, Mike Szymik, and Mary Ann Toth

Absent: Karen Becker, Pastor Matheny, and Dick Wallander

At its monthly meeting held on November 8th, the St. John Church Council:

  • Welcomed Jay Schaetzel as the new Deacon appointed to fill a Council vacancy
  • Appointed Jeff Wendt, Kay Wendt and Dick Wallander to the Auditing Committee for 2007
  • Approved an official Endowment Policy and the establishment of an Endowment Account thus paving the way for members who wish to make an endowment to St. John
  • Set Sunday, January 27th immediately after the worship service for our Annual Meeting
  • Approved the use of the Fellowship Hall by Mary Knudsen for a piano recital in early December
  • Approved the use of the Fellowship Hall by Christine Toth on December 18th from 1:00 – 8:00 pm for a family Christmas party
  • Approved the use of the Sanctuary on May 17, 2008 at 3:00 pm for a wedding between Erika Bruenig and Brian Eskildsen
    Very special thanks to:
  • Gary Johnson for repairing the roof to the fellowship hall
  • Rollie Pieper for drafting the approved Endowment Policy
  • John Schaetzel for replacing the water heater
  • Jenna Yaggie for cleaning the church, hall and offices over the past two years
  • Mary Johnson for donating special candles for our Christmas Eve candlelight service
  • Amy and Duane Witzlib for volunteering to coordinate this year’s Christmas program
