Council Highlights for December 2008

Present: Karen Becker, Cherie Bersch, Mary Johnson, Bob Lehmann, Matt Lison, Pastor Matheny, Mike Szymik and Mary Ann Toth

Absent: Jay Schaetzel and Dick Wallander

At its monthly meeting held on December 11th, the St. John Church Council:

  • Approved a request from Mission Alive to provide $500 for a discretionary fund for Pastor Matheny to use for members in need.
  • Set February 7, 2009 for a committee chairpersons and Council planning session.
  • Authorized the purchase of a locked cabinet for the church handbells.
  • Reviewed and discussed the preliminary 2009 budget.
  • Agreed to explore the possibility of offering the Summer SportsLife Camp for a third year.
  • Authorized Pastor Matheny, Mike Szymik and AJ Schroeder to look into the cost of a replacement copy machine.
  • Discussed the possibility of formal discussions with Our Saviour’s regarding partnership options. Agreed to put this item on the agenda for our annual meeting in January.
  • Approved a request from Audrey Kirchhoff to use the Fellowship Hall for a meeting of the Red Hatters on Saturday, January 24th from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm.

Next Council meeting January 8, 2009

We are looking for several able-bodied individuals who live near church and are willing to shovel our church sidewalk on an as-needed basis. Please contact Pastor Matheny if you are able to help out.
